Why participate?

You have the power to make a difference. Remember: every little bit truly adds up!

  • Make a difference today—sign up and commit to saving energy.
  • Spread the message—help your peers understand the importance of energy efficiency and show them how they can get involved too.
  • Win cool stuff—help your living group and university win the challenge by committing to saving energy.
  • You could win an iPad just for signing up.*

Energy Efficiency is the best new source of energy. It all adds up—When we pool our individual energy-saving actions together, they have an enormous collective impact. That’s why taking even small actions are so important. New energy like wind or gas fired generation comes at a price, that’s why efficiency truly is the lowest-cost, best new source of energy. Together we can make wise use of our resources and help the environment.

Determining the winners

At the end of the month we will use the online energy diary data to determine the university with the largest total amount of energy saved and the living group with the highest average** of energy saved. In the event of a tie, a random drawing will be conducted to determine the winners.

** The average of energy saved will be determined by dividing the total efforts of each group by the number of members in the group. Players must meet certain minimum participation requirements to have their efforts included in these calculations.
